A Russian physicist and well know tech entrepreneur Yuri Milner, has decided to offer $100 Million for search of Extra terrestrial life. Yes you read it right! It’s not a plot of any sci fiction movie but a reality and we are about to be part of it.
We all have been always fascinated by the thought of extra terrestrial life outside our planet. We have heard and read a lot about of it and the idea has always created a lot of curiosity among us.
People have tried to find answer to this from a quite a long time in their own ways, but as far as we are aware there is still no proof of existence of alien life yet. Many enthusiast and private organisation consisting of well known scientist, physicists, Engineer, Astronomer have been active part of this, but what mostly restricts such organisation is lack of budget and government support as this idea seems to be absurd.
A well know private US organisation SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) which has been involved in search of Alien life from quite a long time, but due to controversial idea and least chances of research yielding out any result in any specific time with using present technology, government has almost stopped funding this project.
A Russian billionaire and famous tech tycoon Yuri Milner has came to the rescue of SETI, by providing $100 million to the organization. This will be a much required boost for the all the people involved in the organization to carry out research more widely and in much efficient manner. This money will be spend in the span of next 10 years for the hunt of alien life.
Yuri Milner is a well known investor widely known for investing in top social media company like facebook and twitter has made a good fortune in it. He is well aware of the fact that even after spending $100 million there is hardly any guarantee of obtaining any sign of alien life out there. But, this could definitely be a step towards finding an intelligent life in the vast universe. It may open up many deep secrets of our solar system and Milky Way in coming future and may also bring some interesting outcome with it.
If $100 million can make such a difference, think what could happen if few of many such individuals come forward and contribute for the similar cause?
Brightest mind from around the world should collaborate and research must be supported by providing them with the best infrastructure. With the advancement in technology and such a support, finding sign of alien life in near future seems to be possible.
Thinking about the alien life, brings up many thought in our mind. How would be their physical appearance? Will they actually look like the alien we have seen in science fiction movie or will they will be like us or they could be completely different from anyone has ever imagined. Could their civilization be more advanced than us? Should we interact with them in any manner and what if it results into putting entire humanity at stake, no one could tell all this answer for sure. What if they are also searching for a life and find us first or they are already emitting some kind of radio signal just like us and we are not able to get it because of totally different technology that we haven’t come across.
Possibility are infinite, maybe someone has already find life just keeping everything under wraps from general public for now. It may be even possible that some extra terrestrial life has found us long ago and waiting for the right time to show their presence and they could be closely watching us, just to understand our evolution which could help to better understand their civilization. Universe in infinite and ever expanding so there is much possibility of life in some other very distant place, just there is no mean for us currently to go there or even observe.
Even finding a microbial form of alien life will be a big achievement for all of us, even after spending million or even billion dollars!
